The Berghaus Torridon 6 Man Tent takes it’s name from the mountains in Scotland, this 6 man tent could look like an mountain range, it’s a big tent great for 6 people.

The tent is in a Y shape with two sleeping compartment at the top of the Y and the entrance and living area the middle of the Y. Each slipping compartment sleeps 3, hence the 6 man tent title. There’s two pockets in the sleeping areas and a air vent.

In the main living area there’s plenty of room for a table chair and you gear. There’s are also several pockets to stash your clothes, shoes etch. The ground sheet features a fully taped seem which keeps the draft, bugs and rain out.

The front of the tent is a porch area which is great for placing your boots, gear, cooking equipment. You can also get shelter to take your boots off if it’s raining outside, see the extra pictures below. Weight wise to carry it’s 18.35 and there’s a repair kit in the bag.

Overall a great tent from Berghaus, the Berghaus Torridon 6 Man Tent would be great for a family camping for more than a couple of days or a large group camping at a festival.

    Just spent three night and 4 days in the Berghaus Torridan – the weather was absolutely attrocious, torrential rain and wind, but the tent dealt with all of the weather very well. The single biggest issue is how the tent deals with condensation – i wouldn’t expect it to be an issue in a tent made by Berhaus however, it is present, (this is really only very slight). On the plus side, the Torridan can easily sleep 8 but is listed as a six. It looks great (we had quite a few of the other camper remarking it). I would like a slightly larger porch area or the option to buy a ‘bolt-on’. All in All; a great tent.

    Like other reviewer, spent 3 nights in our brand new Torridon.  We had all weathers, from high winds, heavy rain and hot sunshine down in Devon.  I love the tent due to the sheer size & the layout, you could easily spend a long time in this tent.  I wouldn’t necessarily buy it if you are expecting Berghaus quality as close inspection of seams / stitching shows all the bad points of mass manufacturing.  We had 2 leaks, one due to high winds putting pressure on one of the stitching points close to ground level.  As the water ran off the fly sheet, it hit this stitching point and water started to bead through.  Not in great quantities, but first time in a brand new tent it was disappointing.  The second leak came from the stitching around the top skylight where water had congregated (can’t understand why it didn’t run off).  The stitching up here is too complicated for my liking and there’s too much of it (with three principal poles crossing and a skylight).

    The overly complicated stitching is a common theme throughout the Torridon, there are 3 mini poles at the end of each sleeping section which don’t serve the purpose they are supposed to in my opinion.

    All this said, the size of this tent is enormous.  We are a family of four looking for a tent that will serve for long school holidays and it fits the bill exactly.  We only need one of the sleeping pods, which frees up the other as space for kit and leaves the central area for congregating / living space.  We had six adults comfortably sat in the main living area and it was very atmospheric.  The porch area is excellent for muddy boots / wet gear or cooking in bad weather, the fully sealed groundsheet keeps things snug and cosy inside even in the worst of the weather.  There are three big side windows (one removable by zip) and a top skylight which give a fantastic amount of natural light.

    In summary, this is not a top quality tent (our friends had a Robbens Triple dreamer which smacked of quality throughout although can’t be compared to the Torridon on size), which explains possibly why the price has been slashed so close to launch, but it is good enough to do what it sets out to do.  I found two repair kits in the bag (instead of one presumably – another tell tale of factory production) and I can see that I will be using it, but am happy to do so.  It recommends 4 people in the instructions to set up the tent, we managed quite well with two (it takes forever to get all the pegs in and set up correctly but the colour coding on the poles makes getting the tent up v. easy).  I managed to take it down on my own but its tricky getting it into bag first go and if you have to dry it out before storing (which we did).

    I can recommend this tent if you want space to live in and it did cope admirably in bad weather but don’t be sold on the Berghaus name.

    just spent the long weekend with 1 wife,2 kids and a baby rained on the second nite(heavily) and the tent held up well with plenty of room for all our gear
    down side- condensation quite bad and the time it takes to put up. from start to finish took around 2 hours in the wind though but all in all a good family tent but at the £500 mark.EXPENSIVE

    Just a few observations;

    - I recently took this tent camping, where it was in a field for a whole week, being buffeted by very strong winds. A number of the other tents in the field failed, but this stood up to the wind no problems. In fact I never had to adjust anything due to the weather. Once inside the tent it was noticeable how quite it was, with very little tent material flapping.

    - One night, other fellow campers were in trouble and I managed to sleep 12 people in the tent & gear.

    - Min assembly requirement are two people, to get the middle dome up, but once that is up the rest can be done by a single person. ~ 30 min assembly time.

    I really recommend this tent, and think that it is really good value for money.
