The Brasher Kenai GTX boot is the female version of the men’s Brasher Kiso GTX boot. The Kenai GTX came in a feminine grey and plum combination and has similar features to the men’s version.
The Kenai GTX boots are lightweight hiking boots. A pair of size 5’s weigh in at just 990g. Brasher are known for their traditional leather hiking boots. However, the Kenai boots have been designed with a more contemporary feel which has resulted in a stylish fabric hiking boot.
The quality of the boots can be seen and felt on first impressions. The Kenai GTX hiking boots have a lower and narrower cut in order to provide greater ankle support. The upper part of the boot is made from fabric and suede while the liner is made from Gore-Tex. It has a memory foam collar which adds greater comfort.
When your foot first slips in, you notice that there is a lot of padding around the ankle area while the rest of the boot was quite roomy. If this is the case, then you may want to consider wearing extra thick socks for a more snug fit. The upper material is relatively stiff and thick, ensuring a high level of protection. The boots feel extremely sturdy, especially the Brasher rubber sole unit. Walking over rockier terrain is no obstacle for the boots. We felt confident in the Kenai GTX boots when scrambling over rocks. The sole also provided a high level of grip and traction control, although we felt less confident in wetter conditions when it can get very slippy as we found. The boots also have a shock absorbing EVA mid-sole which provides greater support for your feet during harder impacts.
As with most hiking boots, the Kenai GTX boots are waterproof and breathable. Having splashed around in a few puddles and walked over some boggy land, we found that the boots kept our feet nice and dry while the breathability feature kept them comfortable.
Retailing for around £100, the Brasher Kenai GTX boots are affordable considering the quality of the boots. They are suitable for most walks in the UK all year round. However, we are not too sure how they will fare in icier conditions.
Overall, we think that the Brasher Kenai GTX boots are a great bit of kit.
