New camera from GoPro – Hero 3

For those adventures who love to record their adventures then they must have heard of GoPro. The US based company set about to make a great small camera that would be able to withstand pretty much any outdoor elements. Skip a few years and they are now onto the third generation, the HERO3. The cameras are 30% smaller, 25% lighter, can record better quality video and now have wifi so you can control and view video from the camera on your iPhone.

To promote the release the team made a rather cool video showing the camera in action. The major benefit with the camera is the ability to attach to pretty much anything.

Prices for this range start at £279.99 for the silver edition and £359.99 for the Black edition.

Bear Grylls to return to TV with new seris

Our favourite adventurer Bear Grylls is going to return to our screen, well in America with a new show on NBC. The new show will be a different format from his previous appearances with two teams going head to head in extreme wild conditions. The first season will feature 8 episodes.

Paul Telegdy the President of Alternative and Late Night Programming at NBC Entertainment gave a typical gung-ho quote. “To meet Bear is to meet a force of nature,” said “He is a magnetic and charismatic talent, whose infectious enthusiasm for adventure inspires people to push themselves beyond their limits. These contestants are in for the ride of their lives!” Ye Ha!

Bear was a little more reserved  “The programme will be raw, tough and unrelenting, but it will also inspire and teach the essentials that one day may just save your life. The goal is to empower people with the ultimate in both survival and teamwork, and that brings incredible reward… but first there must be some pain.”

Bear of corse is sponsored by Craghoppers, so he’ll be donning his Craghoppers gear which you can buy online.

Time for another YouTube Clip. Olympic post

BioLite Eco Stove win Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild prize

The smart BioLite Eco Stove has won an award from the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild. The neat little stove which runs of twigs and can power a USB device won the award for innovation.

To accept the award was Tristen Nayloron from BioLite. He added “The company is very pleased to receive this prestigious award and proud that its work has been recognised by such an important body in the UK outdoor community.”

We first blogged about the BioLite in April 2010 and it’s taken time to come from an idea, a prototype and to the UK. However the good news is that it should be in store / on sale in the UK in Spring 2013. It’s currently on sale in the US for $129 which is just under £80. – More information head over to
