Patagonia have announced that they will be opening a flagship store this summer in Covent Garden, London. A retail space of 2,500sq ft has been secured which will house a full selection of products, from core technical alpine and ski/snowboard products to the company’s lifestyle range and the new footwear collections.
The store will be in line with the companies retail brief, to use historic sites and to preserve the integrity of the building. The building was formerly part of the Watney Combe & Reid brewery, founded in 1837, which produced the popular Watney’s Red Barrel beer. Also the basement of the premises formally housed the fruit and vegetables ready for sale in Covent Garden market.
Robert Cohen, Patagonia’s VP of Global Retail explained the reason for the site location: “We want our stores to be gifts to their communities. Because we!re trying to create a living, breathing version of the brand, we view the building as much a part of the story as the products inside.”.
